Grunge Meets Glam!

Fall 2012 establishes a friendship between designer labeled Uptown Girl and the "I don't give a fuck" hipster cool girl. Grunge meets showers and sparkle, being completely polished from head to toe. Goodbye neons; hello reds, browns, and blacks!

Through extensive research I have put together my favorite pieces, in a nutshell, that are the epitome of this year's autumn. Welcome back Queen Bee!

Fall Trends:

Bags: Bronze, brown, black, or shades of red, your bag should be oversized in either a satchel or a tote. (Yes, hobos still apply)

Makeup & Hair: Dark lips are a must, whether you contour them, leave them matte, or add a hint of shine. I love the new Mattene Lipstick line from Mac in either Camden Chic or Eden Rouge. Either go big or go home with the eyes with either a smokey brown or grey. No more French tips, focus on brown, red, or maroon nail polishes.

Shoes: The higher the better, you should not be wearing gym shoes past the age of 16, unless they are fully loaded with spikes or studs. Platform, wedges, and ankle boots that either tie up or have tons of details are a must!  If you must wear flats, choose a mid-calf boot with all these details.

Apparel: Leather jackets, leather jackets, leather jackets! Stay away from pastels, but keep your eyes out for browns. blacks, bronze, or bright colors for the season.  A Simple moto jacket works well, but a leather jacket with studded and spiked detail always adds a little life to the party.  Other than leather pants or leggings, lose the jeans and substitute with shorts or skirts.  And, if your legs get a bit chilly, add hosiery or socks...AMAZING!

*As far as accessories, pile it on!

Cook Yourself Thin!

I have never been one to diet, but I do prefer to eat right.  However, I know how hard it can be to do that, especially if you don't know how to cook. I am a huge cooking show junkie, which could possibly be genetic, as my mother and grandmother were as well.

Lifetime has this great cooking show called 'Cook Yourself Thin.' It deals with women that want to be an ideal weight, teaching them about their calorie intake as well as supplying them with recipes that do not feel like your dieting. Each recipe mimics a bad recipe that each participant likes and substitutes bad ingredients with healthy ingredients, without losing the great taste.

I have made many of these meals and they are borderline incredible. Recipes such as Chicken Caesar Salad, Mini Turkey Meatloaf and Roasted Chicken with Roasted Rooted Vegetables are just a few of the many recipes that the show and cookbooks offer.  I would absolutely recommend Cook Yourself Thin to those who want to eat and cook right.

Calorie Intake:
Your Ideal Weight that you wish to be multiplied by ten
(110lbs x 10 = 1110 Calories a day)
